When starchy foods- like popcorn, bread, fries, chips, and many more- are heated to high temperatures, a chemical called acrylamide is formed. Consuming popcorn or other heat created starchy foods, can expose you to acrylamide which is known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
